Automania 2020 Announcement RE: Covid-19 Update
Our team has been hard at work behind the scenes during this uncertain time for the world. We have had several meetings around the global Coronavirus Pandemic in recent times. Based on the advice we have been given, the uncertain nature of the situation with a rapidly changing landscape of Covid-19 and the challenges it presents the 2020 Automania Festival has been POSTPONED. Please note this is not a cancellation but a postponement. We are currently working on all involved to find a suitable date which will be updated as soon as we know. We made this decision late last week on the back of advice of all those involved which has just been backed up by the government suggestions around avoidance of mass gatherings of 500 people or more.
We understand this is a frustrating time for all involved but our number one priority is the safety and well-being of the public, our communities, staff, competitors and all involved. This is a decision that was not taken lightly. It is not an ideal situation for all involved and we thank you for your patience and understanding at this time. It takes a lot to put together a project like this, already a lot of time, money, people and energy has been invested with this and we look to push on and get through this time with the flu season coming up and look toward a new date and awesome show.
We do not want to add to and public fear or over-hype, but we do recognize the seriousness of the issue at hand. Following local and international trends and decisions based on movements from various health organizations and event organizers was the right decision for us and while we realize that things like hundreds if not thousands of people die a year from Hippos this is not about that and is about protecting our community and everyone doing their bit to contribute fighting this pandemic.
We will keep you all posted with updates surrounding the event, new dates and any other information you may need to know. Regarding competitors and general public ticket purchasers we will be offering refunds to those that cannot make the new dates and will post information about this and be in touch with competitors. All current registrations and tickets will be valid for the new dates :)
